The Valknut is a Germanic symbol for warriors or warrior women who have fallen in battle. It stands less for mourning than for the worship of the deceased who, according to the belief, now dine with the gods in Valhalla. By the way, Valknut and Valhalla have the same root. Valr is the fallen warrior, Knut the knot and Halla the shelter/hall.
